New Plans

This weekend I was going to see my cousin and his wife (newlyweds) in Eugene this weekend but we got our weekends messed up. I was also going to see Andrea who is a good friend.

Oh, well... sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you hoped. BUT I think I'll still have a good weekend. (Though I still have to do pesky taxes, but another friend asked me to go to the zoo so hope to do that too.)

My New Favorite Ice Cream

So, I was wanting some ice cream which I rarely crave, but it happened as I was at the store and I decided to try a new brand.

As I was watching Idol last night, I took out the fudge brownie Umpqua ice cream. All I can do to describe it.... CREAMY.

Today, Mikalatos told me that it is the ice cream with the most butter.... no wonder... it is GOOD STUFF!

One more reason to LOVE the northwest... it is made in Southern Oregon.

Quirky Movie Weekend

While dog sitting (yes, Russell Chen behaved well with just a few whining fits), I got the opportunity to see some movies I wouldn't normally rent.

Watched I Love Huckabees and Garden State. My brief review is that I liked the concept of I Love Huckabees but it felt disjointed a bit even though the concept was that everything is connected... so I thought that a bit ironic. I probably won't have a desire to watch this movie ever again.

Garden State was also quirky with two scenes that I'd be okay with not seeing but other than that, I really liked it. Just quirky enough but still could understand the plot. I laughed out loud with Carla while watching it. If you like movies with a lot of closure you probably shouldn't watch it though.

Russell and I are life long buddies now... and I must say that he is pretty cute.

Dog Sitting

I'll be dog sitting for Russell Chen this weekend. I've heard that Russell can be a handful, but you know I'm up for the challenge... I mean what can he really do that would be so bad? I mean... I get to leave after the weekend.

I'll have a friend come over tomorrow that loves dogs and other than that I'm looking forward to seeing Butler beat Florida (hopefully) and then moving on into the final 4. That would make my weekend for sure (no matter what Mr. Russell does!)

I'm looking foward to a relatively calm weekend once again.

Hmmm.... life is happening....

The problem with blogging is that when you don't do it for awhile it is harder to know what to write because so much has happened since the last time you wrote... so here are 3 things from the past week to share:

~ I enjoyed the fireplace in Seattle... unfortunately my roommates did not as much... they got hot, so didn't have it on as much as I'd like but I still enjoyed it a lot! The whole trip was fun and to talk on the Holy Spirit is always a delight for me since we are so dependent on Him.

~ Butler Bulldogs are still in the NCAA tournament! Yea! I picked them to win the whole thing. It would be so awesome if they did!

~ Lastly... I'm reading a book called, "Carter Beat the Devil". It is about a magician's life and some mystery involved with President Harding... about halfway through and it has sucked me in with it's history and intrigue.

Lights, fireplaces, and cool rooms

Seattle was the destination today. Cas and I loaded up the car with all the goodies for our conference, got Starbucks to go, and drove through the traffic and rain.

As we pulled up to the hotel, I realized that the hotel we are staying in is POSH! Paula and Keith did a great job finding this place in God's graciousness, provision, and kindness!

The room has a wood screen that slides and the sink is a wooden bowl. There is a sheet on the table that tells you where all the lights are in the room and how to operate them. Ironically, there still isn't much light.

The best part of the room is the fireplace. I'll probably sit by it tomorrow as I read in the morning to keep warm.

Tomorrow there will be 32 women from our region descending on this place as we learn more about the Holy Spirit and how He is weaved into our everyday lives and how to minister to others.

Conversations Make Life Interesting...

Whenever people ask me about my hobbies, I don't know what to say usually. My hobbies are so varied and they change over time. I think it is because I enjoy people and what they like to do so I adapt what I do to learn more about them.

So now I usually say my hobby is getting to know people. I enjoy hearing life stories, seeing their worlds, and understanding why we do the things we do.

I realized this again on the plane trip to South Carolina. I sat by two men on two flights and we pretty much talked the whole time. The topics ranged from politics, family, religious background, airlines (those that do well and those that don't), business, and major questions about life.

Very enjoyable though I must say I thought it humourous that one guy would ask a question and in the middle of my answer would interupt and tell me what to do with my life without understanding but that is how it goes sometimes. I learned that some people say they want to know you but have an agenda that comes with it. But overall it was pleasant to talk.

I must say on the way back, I didn't really talk to anyone. Sometimes fictional characters are all I can handle after a long conference;-)
