Zoo's...

The picture I wish I would have taken...

At the zoo with my sister and niece... all over the zoo there are signs posted, "Please, do not feed the animals. Even leaves can harm them."

Pic #1 that I wish I had:
We are walking by the rhinos and I see a mother of two pick up an apple core from the ground and she tosses no, actually she throws the apple into the rhinos space hitting the rhino pretty dang hard square in the face. She was horrified that she hit it so hard. I was horrified that the rhino could charge and easily run her down!

Pic #2 that I wish I had taken:
There were a lot of giraffes and they were pretty active and honestly very elegant. There is a guy with his son taking branches off a tree and feeding them to a giraffe. I'm sure he'll remember it for the rest of his life as a good memory with his dad though.

Da-Bears!

WoW!!!! Da-Bears... my Bears got a lot of hype this week on being the best team since they won the superbowl and the bears' shuffle. Everyone talked about what an easy time of it they will have in Phoenix and will be 6-0.

Well..... I must say that last night's game was a dose of humble pie. They looked pretty pathetic the whole game. I wonder if all the hype didn't get into their heads and they came into it cocky?

It was Phoenix 20 and the Bears 0 at halftime. I didn't see the game up to this point 'cause I was playing with my adorable niece. BUT with 5 minutes left in the game, I got to see a great comeback! Now it was Phoenix 23 and the Bears 24 with 2 minutes to go... Phoenix pushed the ball down the field... 6 seconds left... they kick the field goal and... OOPS! The kicker missed it!!!!!! Da-Bears WON! I couldn't believe it.

This morning's headlines said, "Thanks to the defense, Hester's punt return, and the Phoenix's kicker the Bears win!" I felt bad for the kicker (I'm sure his team and coach and himself were not happy).

Da-Bears were LUCKY ... but it sure was exciting to watch.

Family

Below is my sister with Gwyneth 2 years ago
It is 5:07 AM and I've been up since 3:15.... why? Of course, I'm sitting at the airport. I'm on my way to Utah. This week I'll be visiting with our teams in Logan and Salt Lake City which will be great.

A perk is that my sister lives in Utah, so I get to see her in a few short hours. We'll go out to breakfast with Gwyneth (my niece), go to the zoo, and swing by to pick up my brother-in-law at the airport who has been away to St. Louis. And then I'm sure my sister has Sunday all planned too.

Unlike me, Stacy plans in advance. She would never be stranded at the airport because she forgot she needed to get home. She never forgets a birthday. Some call me responsible but she is over the top and detailed. I'm sure I frustrate her at times with my calling and asking her 2 weeks in advance if it is okay to visit, but I know she still loves me.

I realized that I haven't really been to see family since Christmas. I did go to my brother's graduation and saw some of my family there but I wasn't going to their homes. I realized I missed home when this past week, my 4 year old niece informed me on the phone that "she hasn't seen me in forever"

It will be great to see them and just be! There is something about family that you just feel more yourself and the fact that your nieces and nephews fling themselves at you and say they love you when really all they know about you is that you are family!
