Time in Reno
Had a great time in Reno, Nevada with the students there. While there the Joe Crowley Student Center had its grand opening. After some long speeches which I learned a lot about the school's history and other hoopla, the school had a luncheon on the lawn. The building is really nice and I'm sure lots of conversations about relationships, homework, school, future, and God will be had there.
The picture is of a gal I met that day. She is from Taiwan and was involved with CCC there. She has a heart for international students to understand who Christ is. I helped her invite international students to their annual Thanksgiving feast that night. There were so many people that us "white" folk were turned away. I did get to hear the heart behind the night though. Dr. Gim was an international student who was lonely around this time of year. As he became a Christian and a professor, he decided to invite all internationals to a dinner of thanksgiving to share Christ's love with others and to celebrate together. He has been hosting this dinner for over 30 years! It was an amazing story to hear. One in which he could have easily been bitter and yet the Lord redeemed it and he gives to others.
I also got to go to a UNR vs. Hawaii football game. Alas, UNR lost in the last 40 seconds.:-( It was a great game though and the weather was perfect.
I love the students in Reno and the surrounding area and we had so much fun together. Thanks for the serving the Lord, you guys!
